Setting up your Computer.
To set up your Oculus Rift S or Rift, you'll need to download the Oculus app on your PC. Before you install the Oculus app, check to make sure that your hard drive has sufficient disk space.
The Oculus app will be installed on the C: drive unless you choose to install the app on a different system drive.
To download and install the Oculus app on your computer:
When you install the Oculus app on your PC computer, it'll install on the C: drive. If you want to install the app on a different system drive, make sure the new system drive has sufficient free disk space and is formatted to use the NTFS file system.
To install the Oculus app on a different system drive:
Windows key
> + R to open the Run command[drive]:\Users\USERNAME\Downloads\OculusSetup.exe /drive=[new system drive]

Before you set up your Oculus Rift or Rift S, check to make sure the following things are up to date:
Graphics drivers enable your graphics card hardware to communicate with your computer. Staying up-to-date with the latest drivers available for your graphics card is needed for a smooth experience with Oculus Rift or Rift S. Occasionally, you may need to repair or uninstall and reinstall your graphics drivers to resolve a driver related issue.

USB drivers allow a hardware device, such as an Oculus Rift or Rift S, to communicate with your computer. Staying up-to-date with the latest drivers enables a smooth experience with Oculus Rift or Rift S. Occasionally, you may need to repair or uninstall and reinstall your USB drivers to resolve a driver related issue.
USB driver updates should be included with Windows updates. If you're having a problem with your USB driver, check to make sure you're running the most up to date version of Windows. If this doesn't solve the problem, you can also install updates directly from your manufacturer’s website:

Minimum Specs
The NVIDIA GTX 960 (4GB), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (4GB), NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti, NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (laptop), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M and AMD Radeon RX 470 currently meet the minimum specs.
Note: Some Rift S content may require a computer that exceeds Oculus’s minimum or recommended specs. Please refer to the recommended specs when browsing content in the Oculus Store.
Oculus Rift S with Roomscale works best with a safe, unobstructed play area of at least 6.5 feet by 6.5 feet (2 meters by 2 meters).

If you’re setting up Guardian with your Oculus Quest 2, Quest, or Rift S for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions.
Guardian lets you create boundaries in VR that appear when you get too close to the edge of your play area. When setting up Guardian, your play area will show as one of these sizes:
Below Minimum: If your play area is below minimum, it doesn’t meet the 3 feet by 3 feet (1 meter by 1 meter) requirement to use Guardian.
Minimum: You have enough space for the minimum required play area, but some apps may recommend at least 6.5 by 6.5 ft for the best experience.
Recommended: You have the recommended play area for Roomscale experiences. This means that your play area meets or exceeds the 6.5 feet by 6.5 feet (2 meters by 2 meters) space needed to set up the Guardian System.
To reset your Guardian in VR:
Select Settings from the bottom toolbar.
Select Guardian in the left menu.
Click Adjust Guardian.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your Guardian.
Once you set up your Guardian, you can make additional adjustments at any time from your Guardian settings-panel option in-VR. The settings you can adjust here include:
Headset distance sensitivity: Lowering your distance sensitivity means that you won't be alerted until you're closer to the edge of the guardian boundary.
Controller distance sensitivity: Lowering your distance sensitivity means that you won't be alerted until you're closer to the edge of the guardian boundary.
Headset speed sensitivity: Lowering your speed sensitivity means you'll be alerted less when making fast movements near a boundary edge.
Controller speed sensitivity: Lowering your speed sensitivity means you'll be alerted less when making fast movements near a boundary edge.
Clear Boundary History: Selecting this option will clear all existing guardian maps from your Oculus Quest.
If you want to use your own headphones with your Oculus Rift S, you can plug them into the audio jack located on the left side of your Rift S headset.

Note: If your glasses don’t fit in the headset or the lens of your glasses touch the Rift S lens, we recommend you take off your glasses while using your Rift S.

If you’re setting up your Oculus Rift for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your sensors. If you're using more than one sensor, you'll need an additional USB 2.0 or higher port.

Entering your standing height lets Rift calculate the distance to the floor. This makes your experience in VR feel more realistic. You only need to set your height once, even if you decide to sit or let someone else use your Rift.

You can adjust the settings for the graphic performance of your Oculus Quest 2 + Link from the Oculus app on your computer.
Open the Oculus app on your Computer.
Click Devices on the left side of the app.
Click Quest and Touch.
Scroll down to Graphics Preferences.
Here, you can adjust your Refresh Rate and Render Resolution.
Refresh rate: The number of times your Quest 2 screen updates with new images each second. You can set your refresh rate to 72 Hz, 80 Hz, or 90 Hz.
Render Resolution: Adjusts the resolution that the app or game you're using is being rendered at. The maximum render resolution you can set is 5408 x 2736.
Keep in mind, while increasing your refresh rate and render resolution will result in improved visuals, these adjustments could have a negative impact on overall performance. Even with some of the newest and most powerful GPUs, maxing out values for the render resolution slider with a 90 Hz refresh rate may result in dropped or missing frames, which creates a less smooth in-VR experience.

Once the log collection is finished, a .zip file containing the logs will be saved to your desktop.
Managing the content and storage space for your Oculus Rift S.
When the Oculus app is uninstalled, any content you’ve downloaded for your Oculus Rift S or Rift will also be uninstalled. To make sure you don’t have to install your content again, you can back up your Oculus software folder in case you ever need to uninstall the Oculus app.

Once you restart the Oculus app, make sure to restore the content by clicking Download. Once you restore your content, it'll show up in your Oculus library.
Note: If you restore your games from a backup, you’ll lose your saved games.
To move content you've downloaded between multiple Libraries:
You can add, remove, or delete Library Locations to save apps and files for your Oculus Rift S or Rift to different locations on your computer. Once you've created multiple Library Locations, you can move content you've downloaded from one Library Location to another:
Your game should now be available in your new Library Location.
Whenever you buy or download content in the Oculus Store, it’ll show up on your device, on your computer or in your Oculus companion app in your Oculus library.

When you browse content in the Oculus Store, you can check how much space you need on your PC computer to download it. To make sure the content is installed without a problem, we require an extra 2GB of disk space. Once the content is installed, it’ll take up less space on your computer.

You can download new content from the Oculus Store on your PC computer, or from your Oculus Rift S or Rift headset in VR. Whenever you buy or download something, you can choose to download it on a system drive that’s formatted to use the NTFS file system. All of the content you download will show up in your Oculus library.
