Intellectual Property Policy: Your Copyrights and Trademarks

Facebook Horizon is committed to helping people and organizations protect their intellectual property rights. By installing, accessing or using Facebook Horizon, you agree to our Terms of Service. Our Terms of Service do not allow content that infringes someone else's intellectual property rights (e.g. copyright or trademark) when using Horizon. If a user repeatedly infringes someone else's intellectual property rights using Horizon, the user's Horizon account may be terminated under Horizon's repeat infringement policy.

Please note that submitting a report of intellectual property infringement is a serious matter with potential legal consequences. Intentionally submitting misleading or otherwise fraudulent reports of copyright or trademark infringement may lead to Horizon taking action, including termination of your Horizon account.

For copyright, it's important to note that intentionally submitting a misleading or fraudulent report may also lead to liability for damages under section 512(f) of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or similar laws in other countries.

Copyright

Copyright is a legal right that seeks to protect original works of authorship (example: books, music, film, art). Generally, copyright protects original expression such as words or images. It does not protect facts and ideas, although it may protect the original words or images used to describe an idea. Copyright also doesn’t protect things like names, titles, and slogans; although these might be protected under trademark rights.

If you believe someone is using your copyrighted work without your permission, you can email a completed copyright infringement report to ip@oculus.com, including all of the information listed below. You can also mail a complete copyright infringement report to the following address:

We regularly provide the rights owner's name, your email, and the details of your report to the person who posted the content you are reporting. In the case that you are an authorized representative submitting a report, we provide the name of the organization or client that owns the right in question. For this reason, you may wish to provide a valid generic business or professional email.

If possible, before you submit a copyright report to us, you may want to send a message to the Horizon user you believe may be infringing your copyright. You may be able to resolve the issue without contacting Horizon.

Trademark

A trademark is a word, slogan, symbol, or design (example: brand name or logo) that distinguishes the products or services offered by one person, group, or company from another. Generally, trademark law seeks to prevent confusion among consumers about who provides or is affiliated with a product or service.

If you believe someone is infringing your trademark you can email a complete trademark infringement claim to ip@oculus.com (including all of the information listed below).
