Oculus games, apps and features let you connect with the Oculus community. To make sure you feel safe when using your Oculus device, we ask that everyone follow the Oculus Code of Conduct:

  • You may not use or promote sexually explicit, abusive or obscene content.
  • You may not use or promote language or content that would qualify as hateful or racially offensive. We don't allow content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, diseases or disability.
  • You may not harass, bully, threaten other users, or encourage other users to do so.
  • You may not encourage, celebrate or promote real-world violence.
  • You may not encourage or promote illegal activity.
  • You may not impersonate an Oculus employee, partner, representative, other real person or encourage other users to do so.

If you notice someone isn’t following the Oculus Code of Conduct, you can report them by completing the following steps:

If you are a Oculus Go or Gear VR user:

  1. Press the Oculus button on your controller to access the toolbar.
  2. Select the People tab from the toolbar.
  3. Select Report.
  4. If you wish to capture video of the user or interaction you are reporting, select Video Report from the prompt. Otherwise, select Report.
    • If you select Video Report, you will be taken back into the app you were in, a recording will automatically begin and a small red light will appear on your screen. You can end the recording by hitting the back button on your controller or waiting for 2.5 minutes.
  5. Select the user you would like to report from the pre-populated list or search their username in the search bar at the top.
  6. Select the reason for your report from the Let Us Know What Happened menu.
  7. Review the details of your created report and select Submit Report.

If you are a Rift user:

  1. Press the Oculus button on your touch controller to access the toolbar.
  2. Using your touch controller, point at the clock on the right side of your toolbar to view the menu.
  3. Select Report Abuse.
  4. If you wish to capture video of the user or interaction you are reporting, select Video Report from the prompt. Otherwise, select Report.
    • If you select Video Report, you will be taken back into the app you were in, a recording will automatically begin and a small red light will appear on your screen. You can end the recording by hitting the Oculus button on your controller or waiting for 2.5 minutes.
  5. Select the user you would like to report from the pre-populated list or search their username in the search bar at the top.
  6. Select the reason for your report from the Let Us Know What Happened menu.
  7. Review the details of your created report and select Submit Report.

If you would prefer to fill out a report via web form:

  1. Go to our Abuse Report Web Form.
  2. Fill out the required information and select Submit to submit your form.

When you report someone, make sure to include the following info:

  • The username of the person you're reporting.
  • The issue or reason for reporting.
  • The app the issue happened in.
  • The date and approximate time of the abuse.
  • A description or additional details of what happened.
  • A video recording of what occurred (if available).

If you’ve received a notification that your account has received a warning or suspension, a report against your Oculus account was reviewed and deemed in violation of the Oculus Code of Conduct.

Violating the Oculus Code of Conduct may result in sanctions against your account, including but not limited to, suspension or termination of your Oculus account.

Please reach out to Oculus Support if you wish to appeal your Code of Conduct violation.
