To set up your Oculus Rift S or Rift, you'll need to download the Oculus app on your Windows PC. The Oculus app requires approximately 10gb of space on your hard drive to install. Check to make sure that you have enough space on your C: drive.

To download and install the Oculus app on your computer:

1. Go to www.oculus.com/setup, find the product app you want to install and click Download Software.
2. Find and launch the Oculus app that you just downloaded. This may be in your Downloads or Programs folder.
3. Once the Oculus app is launched, click Get Started then click Install Now.
4. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to create an account and set up your Rift S or Rift.

You can add, remove or delete Library Locations to save apps and files for Oculus Rift S or Rift to different locations on your computer. Your default Library Location will be used for app installation and can be changed to your preferred drive. Installed apps can be moved between existing Library Locations.

To add a new Library Location:

1. Open the Oculus app on your computer.
2. Select Settings in the left menu.
3. Select the General tab.
4. Next to Library Locations select Edit.
5. Select Add Location and select the folder you would like to add.

To remove, delete, or make an existing Library Location your default:

1. Open the Oculus app on your computer.
2. Select Settings in the left menu.
3. Select the General tab.
4. Next to Library Locations select Edit.
5. Select next to the Library location you'd like to edit.
6. Select the option to Make Default, Remove From List or Delete Folder.

To move apps between Library Locations:

1. Open the Oculus app on your computer.
2. Select Library in the left menu.
3. Select on the bottom right of the app you'd like to move.
4. Select Move from the dropdown menu and pick the location you'd like to move the app to.
5. Click Move to move the app to the selected Library Location.

Notes:

• Removing a Library Location from your list will not delete apps or app files. Adding the same location back will include apps you saved to that location previously.
• Deleting a library location deletes all the apps in that location from your disk.
• To successfully add a new Library Location, the drive must be formatted to NTFS. Any hard drive, partition, or USB drive formatted to FAT32 or exFAT will not work as a Library Location.

Home allows you to customize your VR space, play with interactive objects, show achievements and experiences and browse and interact with your friends' Homes. When you first enter your Home, a tutorial will walk you through the basic functionality. You can re-enable this tutorial later through the Home settings menu if you want to run it again.

Using Oculus Home Menus:

To bring up the Home menus, press the menu button on the left Touch controller or push the menu button on your virtual wristwatch with your finger while in VR. The menu is broken into two components: the Navigation Panel on the left and the Main Panel on the right. Select from the Navigation Panel to access different options:

• Overview: Selecting the top of the Navigation Panel reveals details of your current location. When in your own home you can change your privacy settings from here.
• Guest List: You may also review who is currently visiting your Home and invite your friends to join you.
• Places: Visit recommended Homes, or your friends' Homes that you have permission to access.
• Inventory: Access various customization elements. Point at an item and use the grip trigger on either Touch controller to grab elements and place them in your Home.
• Notifications panel: Collect elements you've earned in VR.
• Preferences: Modify various Home settings, including adjusting your navigation, editor and audio settings.
• Help: Find tutorials on how to interact with your Home.

Grabbing and Positioning Elements:

When in Home, you can reach out and grab decorative and interactive elements. From a distance, point with your index finger with either hand to bring up a laser pointer and use the grab trigger to grab and reposition the element you have selected. While grabbing an element, you can use your Touch controllers to manipulate its position and rotation:

• Pushing the thumbstick forward and back will push the element you're grabbing further and closer. If the object is an interactive element, you can pull the item all the way back to your hand to hold it and use it interactively.
• Pushing the thumbstick side to side will rotate the element you're holding.
• While holding an element in the air, pushing the thumbstick in so that it clicks will change the axis that the element rotates around when pushing the thumbstick side to side.
• While holding an object, pull the trigger on the controller to switch between Scale and Rotate modes. While in Scale mode, push the thumbstick side to side to increase or decrease the size of the object.
• Pressing the B or Y button while holding an element will cause it to be put back in your inventory.
• You can grab multiple elements by pointing and pressing A, X, or either trigger to group select multiple objects. When you have multiple objects selected, grabbing any object in the selection will grab and manipulate all of them simultaneously.

Using your Oculus Rift S or Rift, your Home can be customized with toys, furniture, artwork and more. You can visit and interact with your friend's Home using Oculus Rift S or Rift.

To visit your friend's Home:

1. Open the Oculus app on your computer.
2. Click your name from the bottom left menu to open your Friends List.
3. Select the friend whose Home you want to visit.
4. Click "Visit Home", then put on your headset.

To visit your friend's Home from within VR:

1. Open the Oculus app on your computer and put on your headset.
2. Press the menu button on your left Touch controller to access the Home menu.
3. Select Places from the left sidebar.
4. Point at the Home you want to visit, press the grip trigger on your Touch controller to grab the Home’s sphere, and then break the sphere to teleport to that Home.

In Home, you can “lock” editing your environment, preventing changes to the items and designs you've customized.

To "lock" the design of your Home:

1. Put on your Rift or Rift S headset.
2. In your Home, press the menu button on your left touch controller.
3. Select Preferences from the left sidebar of your Home menu.
4. Select Editor from the Preferences menu.
5. Next to Lock Home Arrangement select to prevent changes to your item placement and design of your home.

You can unlock your Home arrangement by returning to the settings panel from your Home menu.
