Casting with Oculus Quest 2, Quest and Go

When you cast, you're able to stream your headset's VR picture to a mobile phone or a TV with casting enabled.
Before you begin casting, make sure your Oculus headset and Chromecast device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Keep in mind that some apps may not allow casting.

Cast to Chromecast
  1. 1.
    Put your headset on and press oculus icon on your controller to open the universal menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Sharing then select Cast.
  3. 3.
    Select the Chromecast device you want to cast to.
  4. 4.
    Select Start.
A red dot will appear in VR to indicate that casting has started. You can stop casting at any time from the Sharing menu or the Oculus mobile app.

Cast to your phone
To cast to your phone, you'll need to download the Oculus mobile app.

    Put your headset on and press oculus icon on your controller to open the universal menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Sharing then select Cast.
  3. 3.
    Select Start.
  4. 4.
    On your phone, select the notification to open the Oculus app and begin casting.
    • If you already have the Oculus app open on your phone, select Start Casting from the in-app prompt.

Cast to your computer
  1. 1.
    On your computer, go to oculus.com/casting with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and log in to your Oculus account.
  2. 2.
    Put your headset on and press oculus icon on your controller to open the universal menu.
  3. 3.
    Select Sharing then select Cast.
  4. 4.
    Select Computer then select Next.
    • If you don't see your computer listed, make sure that your headset and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

    Select Done.

Cast from the Oculus mobile app to Chromecast
  1. 1.
    Open the Oculus app on your phone.
  2. 2.
    Select in the top right of your screen.
  3. 3.
    Under Cast From, select the headset you'd like to cast from.
    • Make sure it says Connected under your listed headset.
  4. 4.
    Under Cast To, select This Phone or the Chromecast device you want to use.
  5. 5.
    Tap Start at the bottom of your screen, put your headset on and accept the in-VR prompt to start casting.

Stop casting from your headset
  1. 1.
    Press oculus icon on your controller to open the universal menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Sharing then select Cast.
  3. 3.
    Select Stop Casting.

Known issues
  • TVs with built-in Chromecast or other smart functionality may be supported, but compatibility cannot be guaranteed with all models.
  • You may experience issues when casting and recording simultaneously.
  • Exiting or minimizing the Oculus app may interrupt casting.
  • Casting may increase battery usage or degrade in-app performance.
