Learn how to download, buy, and manage Gear VR apps and content.

Using the Oculus Store

Here's how to find apps and content in the Oculus Store.

  1. Start from Oculus Home. (Overview & Tutorial)

  2. Look at the Oculus Store icon toward the left side of Oculus Home, then tap the touchpad on the right side of the headset. (Basic Navigation)

    Note: To go back to Oculus Home at any point, press the back button above the touchpad.
  3. To browse to the next page of apps, swipe forward across the touchpad. (Touchpad Navigation)

  4. To go back to a previous page, swipe backward across the touchpad. (Touchpad Navigation)

  5. To select an app, look at it and tap the touchpad.

  6. Now you're ready to download or buy that app. (Downloading and Buying Apps)

Downloading and Buying Apps

Here's how to download or buy an app for your Gear VR.

  1. First, select an app in the Oculus Store. (Using the Oculus Store)

  2. You'll then see that app's Overview page, with the following info:
    • User rating—how many stars other users have given the app.
    • Content rating—the suggested minimum age range for the app's content.
    • Comfort rating—cautions for users who are more sensitive to discomfort.
    • Price—the orange button shows the price of paid apps or Free for free apps.
    • Summary—learn about the app's setting and story.
    • Details—see the app's genre, size, publisher, and developer, plus any controller requirements or multi-player options.
    • Media—scroll through screenshots to give you an idea of typical gameplay.
    Note: To leave the Summary, Details, or Media pages, select Close or press the back button above the touchpad.
  3. To download or buy the app, select the orange button. It will show the price of the app, or Free for a free app.
  4. Accept the necessary app permissions. For instance, the app may need access to network communications, battery, and storage functions.
  5. For paid apps, select Buy to confirm your purchase.

    Note:
    • Take a moment to review your saved payment method, the name of the app, its price, and any applicable tax.
    • Enter the PIN for your Oculus account when prompted.
  6. For larger apps, select Continue to download the app now, or Cancel to wait until later. To download later, just select the orange Install button the next time you visit the app's page.

    Note: Apps will appear in your Oculus Library after you download or buy them. You'll be prompted to download apps that aren't currently installed when you select them.
  7. After you've downloaded an app, select the orange Start button to launch it.

    Note: If an update is available for that app, you'll see an update indicator in the upper right of the Updates icon. Select the Updates icon to install the update.

Using the Oculus Library

Here's how to use and manage your Gear VR apps.

  1. Start from Oculus Home. (Overview & Tutorial)

  2. Look at the Library icon toward the right side of Oculus Home, then tap the touchpad on the right side of the headset. (Basic Navigation)

    Note: To go back to Oculus Home at any point, press the back button above the touchpad.
  3. To scroll down to the next row of apps, swipe down on the touchpad. (Touchpad Navigation)

  4. To go up a row, swipe up on the touchpad. (Touchpad Navigation)

  5. To launch an app, look at it and tap the touchpad.

    Note:
    • If an update is available for an app, you'll see an update indicator in the lower left of the app image. Select the update indicator to install the update.
    • You can go direct to any app's overview page by selecting the i icon in the upper right of each app image.
    • To uninstall an app, remove your mobile device from the headset and use the Oculus app (Using your Library on the Oculus App). (You can also use the Android Application Manager to uninstall apps.) That app will still be listed in your library, though, even if it's no longer installed.
